Stories from the Dreamscape

Greetings! My name is Megan and I am fascinated by the stories that play in my mind while my body rests. I began writing the stories from my nightly dreams in middle school, and honed my writing through rigorous participation in high school and college writing clubs. I graduated university with a BFA in 2021, and explore magical realism, speculative fiction, sci-fi, fantasy and horror in my stories.

I have many projects in mind but am most occupied with The Darkening, first of the Affinite Series, a speculative fiction trilogy.

When I'm not writing on my laptop (or in my head!) I'm exploring this and fictional worlds through traditional art and video games.

After being contacted by a mysterious entitiy in her dreams, Ali Frevor is thrust into a sprawling world unlike anything on Earth. Upon waking up she is releived to return to her normal self, but as the dream resumes every night she comes to realize that the seemingly distant world lies dangerously at her feet.

Ali realizes the truth about her stay with Lucas and the danger her power brings other's like her. She panics, rushing to find the other messiahs before Lucas and other adversaries to and keep them from harm.

The Ascent

Genre — Young Adult, Speculative Fiction

Concept: Finale of the Affinite Series, continuing immediately after the conclusion of The Collapse. Ali becomes aware of the severe imbalance in Affine and does all and beyond what she can to prevent grave destruction.

Concept: When a DNA attacking pathogen threatens humanity, a group of scientists begin splicing other animal's DNA into their own. The "wild cure" is humanely test and results are very positive. Davy, one of many in the first generation of "wild-born," is raised compassionately and peacefully. One day out in the field, they find something that changes the course of the wild-born forever.

Snowy Owl (Tentative Title)

Concept: A herald of the Moon, Hemóna is finally gifted with a chance to dispatch and find a paladin to fuel the effort against the rising underworld—with absolutely zero notice. She desperately tries to meet the Moon Goddess' expectations without any directive. All she knows is she needs to find her human, and fast.

Concept: Four magic users, four gifts, four curses, four crossing destinies. Each novel follows one of the four throughout their lives, providing unique perspectives to the how and why to their misdeeds and their affects on their collective world.
